The Role:
This job is based in England, UK; however, using our bespoke “Recruit and Relocate” model, Workforce will help you to relocate.
Our client is a leading company specialising in structural steelwork and engineering services. They are primarily involved in the design, fabrication, and erection of steel structures for a wide range of industries worldwide, including construction, infrastructure and energy.
Fabrication Responsibilities:
- To be able to read and interpret detailed engineering drawings.
- Mark out sections and components in line with detailed drawings prior to assembly.
- Assemble steel components and structures using hand-held tools and equipment
- Understand and work to client specifications.
- Operation of overhead crane and safe slinging and lifting techniques to assist and move and/or load structural steel pieces.
- Work to WHL quality procedures.
- Assist in the training and development of WHL apprentices.
- Working to WHL Health & Safety requirements.
- Keeping work area clean and tidy.
Welding Responsibilities:
- Welders to work on structural steel of varying grades and thicknesses marked up with weld details.
- Types of welding will be fillet welding and butt welding consisting of both full penetration and partial penetration joints.
- Welding in both down hand and in position. Predominantly using the MAG and FCAW welding processes.
- Successful applicants will be expected to adhere to governing welding procedure specifications,
- To have a good knowledge of all aspects of welding operations such as application of preheat, control of interposes temperatures etc, and generally a good knowledge surrounding the process.
- All applicants will be required to carry out a minimum of two weld tests in MAG down hand for a fillet weld and a butt weld. These tests will also be repeated for FCAW if the applicant is appropriately skilled and experienced.
What we looking for:
- Formal fabrication/craft apprenticeship.
- Experience of structural steel welding predominantly MIG welding.
- Experience of heavy fabrication, both structural steelwork and plate work.
- Good hand/eye coordination.
- Able to work to WHL quality procedures and Health & Safety requirements.
- Keeping work area clean and tidy and can demonstrate.
- Willingness to take direction from an area lead and follow that direction.
- Self-starter and able to take the initiative when not working under direct supervision.
- Ability to read and understand technical documents such drawing.
- Ability to prioritise, meet targets and achieve deadlines.
- Willingness to learn and develop self and apprentices.
Shift:
- Either 7:00am - 3:00pm or 3:00pm - 11:00pm Monday – Friday
